About the Village of Corrales, New Mexico

Close to the bustling cities of Albuquerque and Rio Rancho, but nestled in the rural Rio Grande valley,
the Village of Corrales is filled with a slow-paced, artistic, and peaceful energy.  With a population of
approximately 7,300, Corrales maintains a true small village feel.  As soon as you enter the village, you
will see green pastures, farmland, orchards, acequias, horses, sheep, chickens, and roosters.  Above
the ancient cottonwood trees, amazing views of the Sandia Mountains take you breath away.  Driving
along the narrow two lane main street you can't help but notice the signs which declare the Village a
coyote protected area and crosswalk signs for horses and their riders.

Art galleries, photography studios, and jeweleries abound in Corrales.  Many custom home designers
and custom house builders maintain their base their too.  You will find a long list of "equestrian
services" listed in the local directory - telling of Corrales' rural charm.  Favorite local eating spots
include Casa Vieja, Indigo Crow,  and Village Pizza.  Locals also enjoy an aquatics center, library,
beautiful parks, horse riding arenas, skateboard park, and bosque river open space managed by the
Nature Conservancy.  Events like the Corrales Growers Market (which runs even during the winter
months), Annual Corrales Harvest Festival in September, Wagner Farms Corn Maze and Pumpkin
Patch, help to create a real community feel.

Many Corrales homes are Southwestern in aesthetics.  From old hacienda style adobes to newer
custom built residences, most homes are located on a minimum of one acre lots.  Homes located in the
green belt are surrounded by beautiful, long-established vegetation.  While newer homes located on
the western hillside have amazing views of the Sandia Mountains.

If you are looking for a rural, community-oriented feel, Corrales might just be the right place for your
new home.
