Highways and Roads •The two major highways which run through Albuquerque are I-25 and I-40. • I-25, which runs north/south, and I-40, which runs east/west, provide easy access to all major roads in the city. • In 2002 the state of New Mexico finished the reconstruction of the "Big I", Albuquerque's I-40 and I-25 interchange. This $291 million project was the largest public works undertaking in state's history, and one of the country's 10 largest highway projects ever.
